Oleoresin Capsicum (OC – Pepper Spray) Course for Civilians and Security Officers:
You will NOT be sprayed with Pepper Spray in this class, but you will gain the knowledge, skills and tactics you deploy your OC Spray effectively and legally.
Topics include:
- Use of Force Continuum
- Escalation and de-escalation techniques
- Laws pertaining to OC carry and use
- OC carry options and deployment techniques
- Post-exposure care – decontamination procedures
- Reporting requirements
Upon successful completion of this course the student will receive a two year certification and a .5oz of DPS OC.

The Praetorian Agency qualifies retired law enforcement officers (RPO) and Permit To Carry (CCARE/PTC) applicants at WeShoot Experience at 1955 Swarthmore Ave, Lakewood, NJ Monday through Friday between 10 AM and 12 PM and Thursday evenings from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. No appointment necessary. Targets are supplied – ammunition is available for purchase on site, if needed.
RPOs: Per the NJ Attorney General, you must qualify with every weapon you want to carry. Please have a holster and flashlight for qualifications.

This course is ideal for large groups and community organizations.
It is an approximately 60-minute course including a formal presentation and hands-on practice of direct pressure application, wound packing, and use of a tourniquet. The course was developed for a nonmedical audience to address the needs of the immediate responder to control life-threatening bleeding until help arrives.
